Zio's Deli & Heroes opened in 2021 in the heart of Buffalo's Elmwood Village by husband and wife team Annie and Ben. Ben is a customer of Jonny the Barber, another Stronghold client, so when it came time to brand his own business he knew where to come. We all agreed we wanted the deli to be modern (and fun) take on the classic deli look to correlate with the sandwiches they'd be serving. Zio is Italian for uncle, so we thought this was the perfect opportunity for mascot—and Mr. Zio was born. Since it was so common for restaurants and bars to have illustrations of their buildings in the past, we added a secondary logo mark of their iconic location. Each of these were used to create various badges and used various ways on things like signage, menus, gift cards and more.
